Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is the coating safe?
A. The coating is completely cured when the customer receives the product.
When cured, the coating is considered non-hazardous and has a flash point of
600 degrees F. However, some of the fragrance and essential oils used to
scent the product may support combustion when in contact with an open
flame. Keep the light bulbs away from direct flames. These light bulbs are
intended for use as accent lighting only. The coating and oils used in the
manufacturing process are not meant for consumption and may cause mild
irritation or other health concerns if consumed.
Q. Can the light bulb be re-scented or refreshed using
fragrance or essential oils?
A. No. Although some claim that this is a safe process, we do not
recommend it. When the coating is cured the oils used for scenting the
product are sealed inside the cured coating and released as a mild aroma
over time. The process is accelerated by the heat when the bulbs are lit.
If you try to drip refresher oils on the cured surface of the coated light
bulb, it will only be repelled, not absorbed. If the light bulb is in a
fixture when you do this, the oil will run down to the bulb base and into
the fixture. We do not consider this a safe practice. The scent will last
about as long as that of a scented wax tart, enjoy the scent while it lasts
and enjoy the unique look and soft glow for months and months.
